Nothing costs anything, because nothing can be sold yet
Browsing is free and free Skills are free. Priced Skills are not purchasable, because payment processing does not exist in this product. Here is the whole picture on both sides of it.
For users: free
- Browsing and search (free today): every listing is readable in full, including the sample output, without an account.
- Free Skills (free today): download the file and use it however you like. No sign in, no card, no limit on how many.
- An account (free today): it exists so you can publish a Skill or save one, not to unlock downloads.
- Paid Skills (not available yet): a priced listing shows its price and a disabled button. Payment processing is not built, so nothing can be bought and no file is issued.
For creators: free to publish
- Publishing (free today): there is no limit on how many Skills you publish. You need an account, nothing else.
- Your numbers (included): downloads, saves and views sit on your listing. Where people answered, you also see how many said the Skill solved their problem.
- Setting a price (not available yet): you can mark a Skill paid and give it a price. Today that price is a signal about willingness to pay, not a checkout.
- Payouts (not available yet): there are none. No payment processing, no balance, no payout schedule, and no commission is taken because no money moves.
The intended model
The plan is that a creator sets a one-off price, a buyer pays once, and SkillHub keeps a share of the sale to run the marketplace. None of that is live. There is no payment provider connected, no commission rate set, and no payout schedule to quote.
When those numbers exist they will be published on the pricing page before anything can be sold, so nobody discovers the terms after the fact. Until then, treat the price on a paid listing as the creator's asking price and nothing more.
Frequently asked questions
Is SkillHub free?
Yes, for everything that exists today. Browsing, free Skills and accounts cost nothing. Paid Skills cannot be bought because payment processing is not built.
Does SkillHub take a commission?
No. No money moves on SkillHub, so no commission is taken. The intended model includes SkillHub keeping a share of future sales, but no rate is set and none of it is live.
